Genesis Reading FAQ

Below are a selection of questions that I am often asked, including…

“Is it OK if my child wears pajamas?”

Find the answer to this question and others below.

Do you have questions that aren’t answered here?

No problem, just send me an email [email protected].

How long are the lessons?

The lessons are an hour each.

How often do we meet?

We meet three to four times per week.

Do you meet on weekends?

By special arrangement only.

Other programs say two times a week is sufficient, why does this program meet more often?

In addition to the brain science of the program, consistency and frequency are two key components of success. Meeting less than three times a week will not anchor in the knowledge that your child needs to get up to grade level and beyond.

How long will the program take?

The program can take 2-3 years depending on your child’s specific reading deficit and how often we meet.

What if I try out the school intervention system for another year instead?

The younger your child is, the easier it is to remediate the neurons in the brain. Spending more time on strategies that don’t work only prolongs the process and keeps your child stuck, ultimately suffering academically, emotionally and socially.

My child might be cranky or tired. How do you manage that?

We play a lot of games. Movement, breathing and relaxation help to relieve tension, so I use all of these techniques throughout the lesson.

Is it OK if my child wears pajamas?

Yes, there is no dress code for the lesson. Your child can wear what they feel comfortable in.

What if we go on vacation?

It’s best to continue lessons via Zoom whenever possible. Avoiding breaks is ideal to achieve optimal results, quickly.

What happens if my child is sick?

None of us are at our best when we are unwell. If you child is sick, we will resume lessons as soon as they are well enough.
