How does it work?

Think of it like the classic matching card game ‘Old Maid’ with a reading twist.

Players race to match word pairs accurately. One Agent Q card is left unmatched, and whoever ends the round holding it gets to go first next time.

The fast pace keeps children engaged, while the repeated matching helps strengthen attention to sound patterns, word structure, and accurate decoding.

What’s the story behind Agent Q?

After years of telling teachers and administrators that her daughter was not truly learning to read, but was being encouraged to “cue” from context, Emmi’s mom made the decision to seek private intervention.

Emmi was Sheridan’s first student, as well as a talented artist and tech wizard. She created the Agent Q character as a reminder that children do not learn to read by guessing.

That idea became the heart of the game, helping more children break the code and not get “cued.”
