Our Mission
Who We Help
At Genesis Reading LLC, we believe no child or adult should feel broken because they can’t read. We work with frustrated dyslexic and dysgraphia learners who are tired of guessing, parents who are desperate for answers, and teachers who want tools that actually work.
Founded by Sheridan Hotung, a Certified Academic Language Therapist and mom who has lived this journey with her own children, Genesis Reading was born from equal parts love, grit, and science. We know first-hand what it feels like to watch a child struggle and we also know what it takes to help them soar.
Our multisensory, brain-based programs are built to unlock the code of reading. Whether your child has a formal diagnosis or simply can’t seem to make sense of the words on the page, we’re here with step-by-step strategies that deliver real results.
We offer:
-
One-to-one therapy (in-person or online)
-
Professional development for educators who want to bring structured literacy into their classrooms
-
Speaking engagements to shine a light on the science and hope behind how the brain learns to read.
Our Philosophy
Reading isn’t a privilege for the lucky few it’s a fundamental human right. Every child deserves to be taught in a way their brain can understand and remember.
Our philosophy rests on four core values:
-
Science over guesswork – We rely on proven, research-backed methods that align with how the brain processes language.
-
Connection before correction – Children learn best when they feel safe, supported, and understood.
-
Joy is the secret sauce – Games, creativity, and multisensory learning aren’t extras; they’re what make progress stick.
-
Empower the grown-ups – Parents, teachers, and caregivers are key players. We give them tools, not guilt.
Our Mission
Our mission is simple yet powerful: make effective literacy instruction accessible to everyone.
We equip parents, teachers, and schools with the skills they need to help children become confident, independent readers and writers. But our work doesn’t stop there. We are equally committed to supporting incarcerated individuals and at-risk learners because it’s never too early, or too late, to rewrite someone’s future.
At Genesis Reading, we don’t just teach reading.
We unlock potential. We restore dignity. We change lives.
