Who can benefit from Genesis Reading?
-Hi, I’m Sheridan, a Certified Academic Language Therapist in private practice. I specialize in teaching frustrated dyslexic and dysgraphic learners to become independent, grade-level readers and writers. I do this by igniting curiosity and the joy of learning with creative strategy games rooted in brain science.
I’m going to show you some powerful techniques that create the right environment to cater to your child’s learning style. By tapping into the fun zone, students relax, trust the process, create connection and see results. Based on neuroscience, Multisensory Language Therapy (MSLT) is internationally recognized as the most effective strategy.
Have you tried everything and you’re at your wit’s end?
Has your child been diagnosed and you’re ready to save time, money and heartache by using a strategy based in science?
A couple of recent examples of success include spontaneously sight-reading during theatre auditions and confidently reading from a teleprompter while anchoring at her school news show.
Why work with me?
I’ve been where you are now and I have come out the other side. I understand the challenges and frustrations you and your child experience as part of your every day life.
I have 2 dyslexic children. One has recently graduated from University and the other one is in college. For four years, I home schooled our kids as mainstream education just wasn’t meeting their needs.
My own personal journey, coupled with 20 years in Montessori mean that I have the experience to customize lessons to your child’s specific needs.
Parents of my students unanimously comment that my ability to connect with their child enables them to push through really tough material, and most importantly, they have fun doing it.
What is special about the strategies I use?
Multisensory Language Therapy is effective because it uses all pathways of learning to the brain: visual, auditory and kinesthetic. Intensive instruction delivered by an experienced professional enables struggling readers to achieve independence. This includes mastering phonemic skills, overcoming dysgraphia, conquering sight words, and applying vocabulary to improve reading fluency, comprehension skills, studying and testing skills.
What is dyslexia?
Is it an illness?
Dyslexia is not a disease so there is no cure.
What is dyslexia?
Dyslexia is a neurobiological brain difference that affects people’s ability to use and process alphabetic letters and symbols.
Who does it impact?
Children and adults of all intellectual abilities can be affected by dyslexia. The exact cause of dyslexia is unknown, but it often appears to run in families.
What does it affect?
Dyslexia does not only affect reading. It also affects writing, spelling, math and many other areas of life and learning.
How does it make you feel?
People with dyslexia often suffer low self-esteem because they feel stupid, struggle in school and often bullied.
How does it impact education?
One-third of students with learning disabilities have been retained in a grade at least once.
The statistics
It is important to remember that many students not identified as having a learning disability are not included in the statistics below and therefore, true numbers are likely much higher.

Reading is a skill that can’t be taken for granted
You may be asking yourself many questions:

I take parents and children from frustration to freedom by tutoring students based on thousands of hours of research and real-world application to make up for lost time and to get them ahead.

What people are saying
Sheridan has altered the trajectory of our daughter’s education and the proof is in the data.
We found Sheridan to have a strong knowledge and real world understanding of the Orton-Gillingham Intervention Program for dyslexic children.
Sheridan quickly built a genuine connection. She used this effectively throughout the program to teach concepts & keep material interesting.
We just received the winter assessment results. In Fall 2021, on the Reading MAP my child scored 25% and in just 4 months, she scored 44%. That is an improvement of 56% (and is more than 1 standard deviation). I can never thank The Literacy Blueprint enough
A couple of recent examples of success include spontaneously sight-reading during theatre auditions and confidently reading from a teleprompter while anchoring at her school news show.
Sheridan really takes her time to help me understand what I’m doing. I will always recommend her to anyone who needs help with reading and writing.
